48 Hours in Biscayne Bay Florida

Where is Biscayne Bay

Biscayne Bay is a shallow estuary located on the Atlantic coast of South Florida. The northern part of the lagoon is surrounded by the heart of Miami Metropolitan area. The southern end of Biscayne Bay is mostly undeveloped; with a large part of the lagoon included in Biscayne National Park.

It is a lovely spot to relax for a few days. I’d never been to Florida prior to visiting Biscayne Bay. It was an amazing trip and is great for a few days, or a week long trip. I was in town to do another cruise press trip. Unfortunately due to testing mishaps, I did not get on the cruise. Nevertheless it was a fabulous two days in Miami!

How to get to Biscayne Bay

There are 5 major airports in close vicinity of Biscayne Bay. The nearest airport is Miami International. If you are not traveling by vehicle, there’s the option to grab a Greyhound Bus from Ft. Meyers 4 times a week. Other nearby airports include Fort Meyers, Key West, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and West Palm Beach.

Where to Eat

I try to keep fast food to a minimum, but if you want a to grab a quick bite; Checkers serves juicy hamburgers and fabulous crinkle fries.

A few blocks from my hotel was a fabulous outdoor Sports Bar & Restaurant; Opera House . The food and service were amazing. This is a fun spot to sit, relax and enjoy the breeze swaying through the palm trees.

Attached to the Marriott hotel is a small shopping center with 4-6 eateries. The one and only pizza restaurant offers great specials that include beverages. Check it out!

Catch Bar & Grill inside the hotel, offers a variety of cuisine including scrumptious appetizers.

Where to Stay

Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay is the best place to stay. When making a reservation, be sure to ask for a view of the bay. The scenery is breathtaking and so beautiful. I was on the 20th floor and loved waking up to the turquoise water view.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. If you aren’t signed up to Marriott Rewards, be sure to do so before leaving home. I’ve banked a lot of points and love using them at “Bonvoy” properties.

Also located at the back of the hotel is a marina. Bask in the sunshine and views by taking a long walk along the marina. You have the option to walk across the nearby bridge and take in more of sites.
